Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
